The 3D geometry engine behind MeshInspector
Every repair, measurement, and optimization you run in MeshInspector is powered by MeshLib — our high-performance SDK for processing, repairing, measuring, and optimizing 3D data. The same engine that runs the app is available to build directly into your own software.
What is MeshLib?
MeshLib is a modern 3D geometry processing library that helps software engineers process, repair, measure, and optimize 3D data with next-generation algorithms — reducing development time and cost. It is written in native C++ and exposed through C, C#, and Python APIs, so you can call the exact same algorithms from the language and platform your product already uses.
The engine inside MeshInspector
MeshInspector is the application; MeshLib is the core it runs on. When you heal an STL, decimate a heavy scan, run a Boolean operation, or generate a deviation map in MeshInspector, it is MeshLib doing the work under the hood.
That means the qualities you rely on in the app — speed, robustness, and precision on real production data — are also available to you as an SDK you can license and embed. If MeshInspector solves your workflow but you need it inside your own product, MeshLib is how you get there.
What MeshLib can do
One library covers the full 3D pipeline — from raw scan to production-ready model.
Mesh processing
- Boolean operations (union, intersection, difference) — best-in-class for speed and quality
- Mesh healing: close holes, fix non-manifold geometry, make models watertight
- Simplification / decimation with controlled tolerance
- Offsetting, smoothing, remeshing, and deformation
- Collision and self-intersection detection
Point clouds
- Point cloud to mesh: triangulation and surface reconstruction
- Global registration and Iterative Closest Point (ICP) alignment
- Sampling, denoising, and cleanup of raw scan data
Volumes & voxels
- Mesh-to-SDF (signed distance function) and voxel conversion
- CT reconstruction and iso-value surface extraction
- 3D volume rendering
Measurement, inspection & data
- Distance and deviation maps, wall-thickness and gap analysis for QA
- Read and write STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF, DICOM, and E57
- Built-in 3D viewer for fast visualization
