How to convert STP to GLTF
Install and sign in
Download MeshInspector for Windows, macOS or Linux and sign in. The free Community plan is enough.
Open the file
Click Open Files and pick the .stp file.
Save the scene as glTF
Use Save Scene As and choose glTF as the file type.

Pick a folder and save the file.
What to know about STP → GLTF
- STP is the same STEP CAD format under another extension: exact surfaces and solids, not triangles.
- glTF is a JSON scene format; a .gltf often refers to separate .bin and texture files, a .glb packs everything into one file.
- MeshInspector writes glTF only with Save Scene As in the desktop app; the web app cannot save glTF.
- MeshInspector opens STP files but does not save them: STP is import only.
- glTF carries scenes, materials and textures for web viewers and game engines.

Why can't I convert STP to GLTF online?
MeshInspector writes GLTF with Save Scene As, and the web app does not have it. The web app can open .stp files and export single meshes in formats such as STL, OBJ, PLY and 3MF. For GLTF, use the desktop app for Windows, macOS or Linux.
Is the STP to GLTF conversion free?
Yes. Opening STEP files and Save Scene As are part of the free Community plan, so the conversion costs nothing in the desktop app; STEP files need you to be signed in. Paid plans add tools such as Mesh Healer and automatic repair; the Pricing page lists what each plan includes.
Do I need an account?
Yes. The desktop app asks you to sign in; a free account on the Community plan is enough to open the file and save the scene. The Pricing page lists what the paid plans add, such as repair and measurement tools.
Are colors and units kept?
glTF stores sizes in meters, while the source format may have no units at all, so check the size of the model in the target app. glTF can carry materials and textures; how much of them survive depends on what the source file contains.
