Overview of the Force Components Tool for Point Clouds in MeshInspector

The Force Components tool, available under the Points tab, divides a point cloud into a specified number of components by grouping points according to their indices.

To access Force Components for a point cloud:

1. Select the point cloud you want to divide.
2. Open the Points tab.
3. Click the drop-down arrow next to To Components.
4. Select Force Components from the menu.

After opening Force Components, a dedicated panel appears with the following controls:

• Components specifies the number of components into which the point cloud will be divided. The default value is 2; you can enter another value directly or use the – and + buttons.
• Apply performs the operation using the specified number of components.

In this example, we set Components to 4 and clicked Apply. The original point cloud was divided into four separate point-cloud objects, which replaced the original point cloud in the scene tree.

To make the result easier to see in the viewport, we hid two of the resulting point clouds.

Note: Since Force Components groups points by their indices, the resulting components may contain points distributed across the original point cloud rather than forming separate spatial sections.
